OCR Applied for Identification of Vehicles with Irregular Documentation Using IoT

Given the lack of investments in surveillance remote places, this paper presents a prototype that identifies vehicles irregular conditions, notifying group people, such as network neighbors, through low-cost embedded system based on Internet things (IoT). The developed allows visualization location, date and time event, vehicle information license plate, make, model, color, city, state, passenger capacity restrictions. It also offers responsive interface two languages: Portuguese English. proposed device addresses technical concepts pertinent to image processing binarization, analysis possible characters plate border perspective transformation, character segmentation, optical recognition (OCR) post-processing. is Raspberry having support GPS, solar panels, communication via 3G modem, wi-fi, camera motion sensors. Tests were performed regarding vehicle’s positioning percentage assertiveness processing, where are at different angles, speeds distances. can be viable alternative because results satisfactory concerning plates, mobility autonomy.
